Googling, part 2

One of the most interesting things about administrating a website, or a blog, is being able to see who visits your page. When I post regularly, I get anywhere from 15-25 hits a day, a pretty pitiful amount, but they come from all over the world. I don't know how they find me or why, but folks from, literally, all over the world visit.

Some folks I do know how they find me--those who have arrived through an internet search for some topic I cover. When we first got Parker's diagnosis, my doctor told me to google the words to find more about the condition. Apparently, may other people do this, because a lot of folks have landed here through typing "hydrocephalus" or "ACC" into the search engines. I don't have anyway to find those people, all I can do is pray for them.

On the lighter side, many folks find me by doing food searches. I don't know the Canadian who's looking for a "cheddar cheese store in porto alegre." If I did, I'd tell her that the Big Hipermercado on Sertório has real imported cheddar from a dairy in England.

I wish I could email the new missionary looking for "easy recipes for missionaries in Brazil" my recipe folder.

One last question, what is a "Thug Cam" anyway? And what makes Google think I'm one?

I too have found it interesting to see what was "googled" to get to my own site. Here are some of my favorites that still have me scratching my head... :-)

-two fishes in a bag (????)
-sister missionary store (????)
-colombian missionary blogs (we live in Ecuador, not Colombia, doesn't google know that?)
-humming of dishwasher what does it mean? (beats me how I am supposed to have the answer to that one!)
-lottie moon (hey, I'm proud that that one led to my blog!)
-church of christ (again, doesn't google know we are Baptist and not Church of Christ?)

BTW, my wife really got a kick out of your recent cpf post, "You boys play purdy now." I try, but don't always succeed! :)

Just found you through your kind blogging friend, Dorcas, who gave us both plugs on her site. And, like you, I love checking out how people made it to my site. I'm amazed at being high up on the google search engine for some crazy things, or even for things like the name "Wade Burleson." :)

Fun first time hitting your blog. I'm sorry I hadn't happened by sooner. There are a number here at the University of the Nations from Brazil.

I meant to add that it is amazing how the hits come from all over the world, no matter how few hits you might get in a day. I will find myself excited to take a peek at my sitemeter just to see how people found me and their location. it's like an easter egg hunt or something! :)
